My PGCE Interviews: Planning a step towards my future.

I want to be a teacher. I am going to be a teacher.

Over the semester I have been determined to gain a 2.1 this year so that I can become the teacher I’ve been eager to become. Working hard I managed to gain two high 2.1’s in two hand ins and I am determined to leave Newcastle college with the grade I’ve been solely wanted to achieve. After I managed to gain a 2.1 the first time I applied to teacher training over UCAS (Teacher Training, 2019) of which I applied online Screen Shot 2019-04-27 at 19.27.53 as I have show here. As you can also see I did attend my interview at Northumbria University but my experience there didn’t make me comfortable. The way they interviewed you didn’t make you feel prepared as their “Interview pack” was so hard to understand or know what they want from you. The ideal aspects that I gathered from them is that digital art doesn’t seem to be the highlight on their agenda. Seems as though I was the only illustrator in a room of 2 fine artists which by the way already attended the university. I found out that 2 days down the line I was unsuccessful. Not going to lie I was highly upset but luckily I applied for Newcastle College; Newcastle School Of Education.

I managed to gain an interview. The application was so easy and I loved the experience of being able to getting double checks with my tutor and knowing I felt comfortable with Newcastle college. I got a reference by my tutor of which I had to ask for and felt nervous about it as your not knowing what they said about you, Hopefully made a good enough impression :). I attended the interview with everything I could possibly give to make myself look as prepared as possible as I knew I really wanted to do this. I was asked in an Email (Newcastle School of education , 2019)  to create a lesson plan and research different obstacles you would reach in teacher training and personals in a classroom. I did this task as soon as I got the Email only because I was dying to get stuck into my pre interview tasks. I also had the experience of assessment marking which I managed to complete within 2 days which I thought felt like a week but I truly enjoyed it and made sure I tried and point as many errors as I could; Obviously I didn’t get them all but I did manage to get a good amount of errors, This surprised me as I’ve never done that before, yet I managed to find 6 over the asking amount to look for. I loved the group tasks that we did to show our lesson plans, some of us used objects like a stress-ball to pass round in a circle; this was to teach us how to communicate without verbal communication, like clapping your hands or nodding heads. It taught us to understand group work and how to communicate correctly making sure we include everyone. My lesson plan was to teach about acknowledging SEND pupils (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) I did a work sheet to go with the brief lesson about 5 different learning difficulties and disabilities. I had the group listen as I read out and presented book on disabilities and difficulties which only lasted for 2 minutes. I then presented a task sheet of which they had to remember and point out the correct disability and difficulty. Once they finished I went around the group and asked what they thought which need go to which description. At the end of the task everyone got the task sheet right and I gave a brief description of why it is important to not only involve every student but be aware of what child need more help in which sectors of a learning environment. I was asked after my lesson if I was wanting to become a SEND teacher however I simply said I want to teach level 1 or 2 but I wouldn’t of mind if I was to teach everyone as thats the kind of teacher I’d intend to be. Here is my lesson plan and task sheet.

After the group tasks and lessons. I attend a single interview of me and the course leader. Answering questions and thinking about possible placements. I was then told I’d be sent an Email (Newcastle School of education , 2019) if I was to be chosen to do the second interview within a week.

Here is my Emails (Newcastle School of education , 2019) that I achieve and as you can see I managed to hit the second stage of the interview of where I was asked to create a written report on a agenda that is associated with our roles in teaching.

I managed to do the assignment within the week that they gave us 5 working days to get it complete. I was given what the task is to write and I had 6 references that i could use of which they provided. I was highly grateful for this. Here is what I was able to send off to them.

Now its only a matter of time of when I hear back from them. I hope I managed to impress the course leader and that I get this role. I want to teach and I am determined to do my very best and improve my skills and attributes to become a good teacher, I love to learn and I am willing to keep improving my knowledge along side teaching pupils about digital arts and how to be the best they can be. No matter who they are.
