Its that time! Portfolio week.
This blog will cover my portfolio, portfolio book and my final show and what I am going to do for my final show. I will cover first my portfolios and what I have done for them and where I have gathered my inspiration for them. I found on YouTube an artist named Laura Price (Price, 2018) and another Youtuber called Studio Jess (Jess, 2017). Price’s channel talks about how she was hired by Disney with her portfolio and Jess states about presenting yourself as an illustrator. I have took the two and combined this towards my own work and a strong portfolio evaluation which I can show here Portfolio Evaluation. I have found their YouTube channels to be interesting and love watching their content from now on. I recommend checking their channels out. I will leave links down below.
I will now state my portfolio and present what I have placed into my portfolio. I will leave an image here.

As you see here. I have placed my pages of my book and some of my commercial work to place in my portfolio. I have an A3 portfolio and I wanted to place my pages in a large scale format so that when my audience look at my portfolio they will see each and every little detail of my character and its environments. I found this experience to rather simple yet effective. I feel like I have reached my breach for my multi textual children’s book. I have managed to create pages to go along side of my story and placed them in my portfolio. If I was to do this differently I would of included my turn arounds for my character. I forgot to do this but in future references I will make sure I do this for my portfolios. I can take this advice of which I’ve gave myself. I can take it to students and reassure that doing turnarounds and additional sketches will look good for companies to employ you.
I have talked about my A3 portfolio. But I have created a portfolio book of which I have placed my pages and my story. I have placed my zines, turn arounds and my work from 2018-19. Also including my commercial projects. I created a front cover of which I felt fit to look like a children’s book. I did this to link with my studies and my goal from the start of my semesters to create a children’s book. I just haven’t included the multi textures. This is explained due to time and dedication I have places for my PGCE interviews and time management for other commercial projects and collaboration. I wanted to create a portfolio book which was also aimed for my children’s book. I have gained this and I will show images of my portfolio book.
Here I have shown my front cover and back cover for my portfolio book. I have placed my character on the front cover with rosy cheeks. I found this to help with the advertisement for a children’s book. I used the pace for the back ground to resemble a cool ending for the story. I believe that if this was to be published that maybe my book cover would blend in with other children books. If i could improve my work and my decisions for the front and back cover i’d create a continuous cover page which is not based on any of the scenes but with it being more of a mystery. I think this would make my book more exciting and have parents and children craving to read it.
Here you see the pages for my book and underneath has the story of which goes along with it. I think the pages have turned out great and I like how I have placed them either side to go with the ideas I had with my storyboards and script. I found myself extremely proud of my achievements and think I have gave a good ideas for a potential children’s book. I would love to get this story published one day with a professional publisher and someone who is an expert with fabrics. If I was to do things differently I would of loved to try and find a publisher to create the multi textured for the children’s book but I did dedicate my time to focus on my career and that of which I stated in my proposal and treatment. I have focused to gain a high grade and my PGCE interviews this also made me lead to getting my first home to start a future with my partner. Other than that I am extremely glad with the opportunities I have gained and the experience of studying children’s needs and from this I am now educated about children and children with specific learning difficulties and disabilities which is beneficial for when I go into teaching.

From creating my portfolio book I did think. How am I going to present my initial thought for my final show? An from that I came up with a plan.
I will talk about my potential idea and how I have decided to change my idea for a more interactive purpose.
As you already know my original idea I had at the start of the year was to create a book for my final product of which help with the interactive and educational needs for children and children with specific learning difficulties and disabilities. I wanted to create this book to state that I think anyone can read my book as I don’t believe in singling out people for who they are. I came up with a script and storyboards of which help with the layout for my book. Along with 6 pages with illustrated content. The books name is Where is Mr Fox?. I chose a fox for my book as I found from research that animals were the best character for a child and a child with specific learning difficulties and disabilities to follow as they were fluffy and was cute in features. I chose a fox so that I could place the animal in different situations and have him hidden. This was done to go with the idea of book being interactive. The educational purpose was to help children and children with specific learning difficulties and disabilities to know about surroundings and being aware of whats around them.
I will provide the story in script form here Where’s Mr Fox? script. I am showing the potential for the multi textual children’s book as I was in post production and did manage to create the story with the script along with storyboards. The method behind this script is like a guide for the child and the parents/guardians who read the story to the said child can help follow where Mr Fox could be.
The idea I have thought about is to create sensory/interactive board. The board will represent my multi-textual book pages in a jigsaw style sensory board which will be filled with different textures. I wanted to keep the fabrics and the different materials as I researched this in my case studies and research file in semester one. I wanted to keep my studies and have my promise for children with specific learning difficulties and disabilities to be included to read my book. I am pleased with my decision and find that I have thought clearly and with understanding for those who I have dedicated my project around. By this I am excited to start creating my sensory interactive board which includes my story with the different environments. I do believe that my board isn’t going to be overly difficult and will have the best interest for my younger audience; and the adults who love playing with toys and interactive object secretly.
I have also provided a Digital Portfolio. This of which I have my work from when I did Graphics, Poster designs, Photography and My illustration work. I can provide my digital portfolio here My Digital Portfolio. I have provided this to show off my work and my skills set of what I can do and I think this can Benefit me to become a teacher with my experiences and skills.
I hope my blog was interesting and I have gave enough ideas for my final show
Until the next blog
